1)      The most difficult assessment item in COIS20025 is assessment 2 which had an essay regardaing In house and Outsourcing sotware development methologies.

2)      It was difficult to find references for the academic essay, as we need to find six references it was quiet a difficult task to find the six references which must include web sites, some books, journals, and some databases, but there was a good help from the university to do the necessary requirements for the essay.The university must provide much more user friendly search engine in the library section of the Uni’s website.

3)      There are many interesting thing learnt from the course COIS20025 some of them are drawing Data Flow Diagrams, drawing Entity Relationship Diagram, and having a good idea of how to write an academic essay.

4)      The career I would like to choose is System Analyst, and will work forward to achieve my desired objective.

5)      This course gave me a good knowledge about some of the databases ,diagrams such DFD’s , ERD’s  as well as system implementation techniques and operation techniques which can be quiet useful for me to achieve my objectives.

 Answer: Fact-Finding Techniques such as document reviews, observation, questionnaires and  surveys, sampling and research can be successfully used to answer these questions.      

 Document review:. Document review is useful for answering question 1 as it is sometimes out of date, as the forms can be changed and the documentation procedures can be modified. Document review enables us to understand how the current system operates and the processing activities take place. So it clearly defines a traditional approach to system development. 

 Observation:  Observations enables us to authenticate the statements that were made during the interviews and decide if the procedures operate as they were described. Thus observation is clearly answering question 2 as observation usually provides the information that is needed to test or install future changes and to build better association among the users who are supposed to work with the new system.  

Questionnaires and Surveys: Questionnaires include many standard questions that are sent to many individuals, questionnaire (also called a survey) enables to obtain information on a number of different topics such as difficulties, job duties and how a job can be performed more efficiently. Thus it is an important fact  finding  technique to answer the question 1 and question 2. 

Sampling:   Sampling is supportive in answering question 2, it might include records, reports, work requests, data entry documents, etc. Sampling should be well thought-out when using interviews and questionnaires so that rather than interviewing and sending a questionnaire to everyone, a sample of participants can be used. 

Research:  It is a positive technique for answering question 3, research can include internet, IT magazines, books, technical material, news and seminars. One of the tremendously helpful resource is internet from where information can be accessed from federal and government, from publishers, universities, libraries , around the world and from internet newsletters. Research can also include visit to a location (called site visit) which can also be extremely helpful in certain circumstances.
